Rangers Excluded from SPL Fixtures

With the current concerns and lack of clarity regarding Rangers, the SPL will at 9am tomorrow, issue the 2012/13 fixture list excluding the club.

The Rangers name will be replaced by “Club 12” - another kick in the teeth for Rangers supporters.

The consortium lead by Charles Green completed the acquisition of Rangers' assets held within a new company, “The Rangers Football Club,” on Thursday following the failure of a Company Voluntary Arrangement put forward which consigned the club to liquidation.

Rangers now need the support of the other SPL sides before they will be readmitted into the top Scottish League in a vote held in a few weeks time. A date hasn't yet been set although the 2nd of July is the earliest date on which the vote can take place.

It's not clear yet how the other clubs will vote although Rangers being relegated to the Third Division will be a devastating blow for the club's fans and players. Eight of the current 12 member clubs will have to approve Rangers stay in the SPL for them to remain at the top of Scottish Football. Should the outcome land in favour of Rangers staying then they would then take up the “Club 12” games on the fixtures calender.
