South Africa Go down the Hard Way

The FIFA website had an interesting quote which said that South Africa had the home advantage but Uruguay had the team advantage and that’s exactly how the match turned out with South Africa getting a 3-0 drubbing from Uruguay.

The stadium at Pretoria was packed to capacity and the home crowd clearly got behind their team and supported them almost to the very end. However, it was a rude awakening for the home side as they got a lesson in how international football should be played.

World Cup 2010 - Portugal and Ivory Coast

Group G was expected to provide a lot of excitement for World Cup fans with Brazil, Portugal, Côte d'Ivoire and North Korea. However, Portugal’s game against Côte d'Ivoire on Tuesday proved to be another lackluster game in this world cup.

If you take away the Germany game, this world cup has not lived up to expectations so far. The biggest and unfortunate star so far has been the Adidas Jabulani ball which has caused problems for just about every team.

The game was interesting in stages but overall did not live up to expectations with both teams holding on to a draw and finishing 0-0. Ivory Coast and Portugal played a hard game and tried their best but there were no outstanding player performances to set the stage on fire.

Brazil win but without any Flair

There’s no team in the world that plays with more flair than Brazil. Millions of fans from across the world expect the samba boys to dazzle with their style, skill and individual brilliance.

Their opening match against North Korea started on a very sluggish note. The first half was a shocker for most fans as Brazil played a lethargic game. The media had put a lot of pressure on head coach Dunga because his strategy focused on winning matches but not on ‘futebol bonito’ or beautiful football which all Brazilians fans delight to watch.
