A goal by Arjen Robben in the 68th minute, of a rough match that saw both teams finishing a player short, saw the first leg of the 2010 Champions League second semi-final go to the favourites on the night, Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich made more of the match than Lyon who created few threats for Bayern and they had more chances throughout the match. Lyon in comparison relied on a few counter-attacks but rarely looked to pose any real problems for the Bayern side.
Bayern Munich player Franck Ribery was sent off in the 37th minute for a tough challenge. The ball was lost but Ribery stepped on Lisandro's ankle resulting in the red card. The Lisandro was then carried of the field only to return with jeers from the Bayern fans. Lyon's defender Jeremy Toulalan also saw red after receiving yellow cards in the 51st and 54th minutes from the Italian Referee which equalled both sides fire power with only 10 men apiece. The second leg of the Champions League Semi finals takes place starting next Tuesday in France. In the other semi, defending champions Barcelona have a hard game to take to Inter Milan to recoup their 3-1 deficit and lead the way into their second Champions League Final in two years. |
