In Scotland’s quest to the World Cup 2010 they’ve called some of the top football players in the world to play in the upcoming tournament.  Scotland is scheduled to have two qualifier rounds in the next two weeks.  On September 5, 2009 Scotland hosts Macedonia and Netherlands on September 9, 2009 in a massive double-header to capture a seed in the World Cup.

The Netherlands have already has a spot in next year’s World Cup and it is solely on Scotland to win both matches to play in the World Cup tournament.

Garry O’Connor is the latest addition to the Scottish team that will represent the country in the upcoming 2010 qualifying games.  The striker is a replacement for Kevin Kyle, who was recently withdrawn from the Scottish team due to a knee injury.

Alongside O’Connor, is veteran 39 year-old defender David Weir in the Scotland’s must win match against Team Macedonia.  O’Connor is not new to being able to be a valuable asset to a football team.

The Ranger’s striker has many accomplishments under his belt and can be a valuable asset in Scotland’s quest for a World Cup berth.   The 26 year-old striker, who has netted four times for his country in his career, but has yet to score this season for his club.

Scotland’s match against Netherlands should be interesting, since Netherlands are missing a few key players due to injury which can give the Scottish team a win and a berth at the 2010 World Cup.
