Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is going against all odds when it comes to returning back to the field on September 12th when Man U faces Tottenham.  The 30 year-old, defender is expected to return early after sustaining a tear in his thigh when training two weeks ago.

Ferdinand will miss the World Cup qualifier match against Croatia on September 9th.

He was on the sidelines when Man U suffered a loss in the historic match against Burnley and the opening match against Birmingham.

Ferdinand stated that he has been training hard in the past few days to help ease the pain from the tear he suffered during training.

Ferdinand isn't the only Man U player on the sidelines dues to injury, center back Nemanja Vidic is also on the sidelines.
